Jordi Segura – Antidoping
Bio:
Jordi Segura is Scientist at the Neurosciences Program at IMIM-Hospital del Mar Research Institute in Barcelona, and Past-Director for 30 years of its WADA-Accredited Catalonian Antidoping Laboratory.
He has been part of the IOC Medical Commission since 1991 up to 2016 and Secretary of the Subcommission on Doping and Biochemistry from 1995 to 2003. He also has served in several WADA expert groups and other anti-doping related organizations. At present he is the chairman of the FINA Doping Control Review Board. He is also member of the Board of Trustees for Antidoping Lab in Qatar. Also he has been recently President of the World Association of Antidoping Scientists (WAADS).
As Professor of Chemistry at the Pompeu Fabra University, his main expertise is in Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Doping , Drugs of Abuse and Drug Metabolism, having published around 370 research articles on these topics. He has received several awards for his anti-doping contributions to the field.
