FINA World Aquatics Convention > Emma Mason – Head of Strategy and External Affairs at the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI)

Bio:

Emma is the Head of Strategy and External Affairs at the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI). A qualified solicitor with a specific focus on sports regulatory and governance issues, Emma joined WFSGI in June 2018. As part of her role, Emma is responsible for building relations with, and representing the industry to, all international sports federations including the International Olympic Committee, United Nations agencies and other organisations of relevance. 

Away from WFSGI, Emma is a former international badminton player who represented Scotland at European, Commonwealth and World Championship level. Emma remains passionate about her sport and is committed to giving back to it having been re-elected as a BWF Council Member in 2017 and taken up the role as Deputy Chair of Communications. Emma has specific outside interests of helping athletes transition from their sporting careers to life after sport and in the development of technology in sport. Emma is the Director of Switch the Play, a UK based community interest company supporting athletes prepare for the transition and in 2018 ran the marketing campaign for the global launch of a start-up running application. 

Emma has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, is a graduate of UK Sport’s International Leadership Programme and a WeAreTheCity Rising Star in Sport. Emma is also a keen (but slow) runner and has completed two marathons raising funds for Kidney Research UK.
