Tokyo 2020 has today added mattress company airweave to its growing list of official partners.
The company is a second domestic-tier sponsor and has been attributed the category “Beds and Bedding”, bringing the total number of Tokyo 2020 domestic partners to 34, including 19 official partners.
Under the brand slogan “The Quality Sleep”, airweave is a total sleep solution company dedicated to providing the best possible sleeping environment through continuous research and product development.
The company aims to improve the health and well-being of people around the world by offering products that ensure a good night’s sleep.
“Through its intensive research on the importance of sleep, particularly for athletes, airweave inc. has become one of Japan’s leading total sleep solution companies,” said Yoshirō Mori, Tokyo 2020 President.
“The company is constantly striving to provide the optimal sleeping environment, and it gives me great pleasure to welcome airweave inc. as a Tokyo 2020 official partner.”
As an official partner of Tokyo 2020, airweave will assist Japan’s teams at Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games by supporting athlete conditioning through their range of mattresses, pillows and comforters.
The company will also be offering cushions that are said to minimise the burden on an athlete’s body when travelling long distances, owing to their body pressure dispersion capabilities.
Airweave will extend its product category for Tokyo 2020 and strive to deliver the most comfortable sleeping environment for the competing athletes.
“We are delighted to be the official bedding partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Motokuni Takaoka, chief executive of airweave and chairman of the Board.
“Our philosophy is providing people with what we call ‘The Quality Sleep’.
“We’re looking forward to supporting the Tokyo 2020 Games as the bedding company that people can count on to make sure they get a good night’s sleep.
“Through our support, we aim to contribute to the successful delivery of Tokyo 2020 Games that will provide lasting memories for all who witness them, and inspire dreams that motivate children to participate in sports.”
In 2013, airweave became an official partner of the Japanese Olympic Committee and at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, the company supported the Japan Olympic team by offering special portable products customised for athletes.
The highest tier of domestic sponsors in Japan are the Gold Partners, which so far include companies including Canon, Asahi, NEC and Fujitsu.
A third tier of official supporters is also in operation.
Domestic partners are seen as key to the effective running of both Games, with the companies involved awarded the rights to use Olympic and Paralympic designations and imagery including emblems, mascots and slogans.
